Oh Hartford ...

So tonight, Heather and I wanted to go get a cup of coffee. She wanted Starbucks ... so we walked up the street and around the corner to the nearest Starbucks (the joy of living downtown!) ... My prediction was correct ... Starbucks was closed (at 6:55 p.m.)

No big deal ... The nearest Dunkin' Donuts is right up the street across from the main entrance to the XL Center (formerly Hartford Civic Center) ... They were closed (6:58 p.m.) ... door locked and all. The manager/person locking the door pointed us to the larger Dunkin' Donuts down the street (the way we came from) and up the corner ... They were closed (7:01 p.m.).

Our final attempt was JoJo Coffee Roasters ... A sole proprietor that has been in business for about 3 years. I didn't like their coffee when I first opened, but decided to give them a try. Well, I would have if they hadn't closed (7:02 p.m.).

If Hartford wants to be more like New York City or Boston ... it had better start acting like it ... At 7:00 p.m. on a Tuesday, we need more than the train station Dunkin' Donuts open (with nothing but coffee because they had already cleared out all of their donuts/muffins/etc.

  2. My point exactly ... This is the old "if you build it they will come adage" ... Get the places up, and people will come!
