The Resurgence of NMFL

With great thanks and praise to Joshua Ware, I am proud to say that No More Fathers Lost has a new found fire to fulfill our mission:

It is the mission of No More Fathers Lost to provide communities with the opportunity to support each other in efforts that move towards a world where no families ever have to hear the words "I have cancer" from their father figure again.
No More Fathers Lost exists to:

• Raise funds to support cancer research and patient care.
• Support community-based events that raise awareness of the affects of cancer.
• Provide opportunities for volunteers to improve the quality of life of cancer patients and their families.

We started NMFL in 2008 when my father passed away the week of our wedding.  He was Co-Best Man with my cousin Jamie.  After a couple years of losing traction we have found new steam and will continue to host events in Dad's memory.

Help get more funding for Cancer research

What if I told you that you have an opportunity to make a significant impact on cancer research today? You do! Right now, the United States Congress is considering an economic stimulus package and the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) is working to ensure that within that package, $1.9 billion is allocated to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the federal agency that oversees cancer and other medical research.

That’s where we need your help! Please email your Members of Congress, and urge them to include $1.9 billion for NIH in an economic stimulus package.

Over the past 5 years, funding for cancer research is down nearly 14 percent. A $1.9 billion increase for NIH would provide a much-needed increase for life-saving research to help detect cancer at the earliest stages and more effectively treat this dreaded disease.

Let your Members of Congress know that increased funding for NIH is a win-win situation, for cancer survivors, patients and caregivers all across the country.

Take action now. This down payment on the future of cancer research is essential to maintaining the progress that has been made in the fight. Make your voice heard today!

Dear Friend:

We have been lobbying Congress for months working to increase funding for both the National Institutes of Health and the National Cancer Institute, as well as cancer programs at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

We've just received word that Congress has listened and will vote TOMORROW on a bill that would provide a:

* 3.1% increase for the National Institutes of Health
* 2.7% increase for the National Cancer Institute
* 5 % increase for CDC's Cancer Prevention and Control programs

If passed, this would mark the first increase in funding in years! Put simply, the more money that goes to these institutions, the more money that is invested in the fight against cancer.

There are 10.5 million cancer survivors living in the U.S. today and Congress needs to hear from every one who has been affected by cancer. Please, make YOUR voice heard by sending a letter and amplify it by sending this message onto your friends, family and co-workers.
